Introducing TDET’s Wellbeing Champions!

Last week, employees from academies across our Trust attended a two-day wellbeing workshop to become TDET’s first Wellbeing Champions!

This exciting new initiative began with a dynamic and interactive workshop, with our Wellbeing Champions taking part in a variety of activities to get to know each other and to begin to develop a TDET Wellbeing Action Plan.

The Champions’ role is to support the wellbeing of all staff within TDET. They will identify improvements that could be made across our academies and central office to further develop a healthy and supportive workplace culture. The team will then work to implement these changes, as well as promoting a variety of wellbeing initiatives, activities and resources.

The workshop was run by Still Human, a company that specialises in wellbeing in education establishments, empowering people to take ownership of their wellbeing through engaging workshops, training programmes and ongoing access to tools and resources.

Jodie McDonald, TDET Head of Human Resources & Organisational Development, said: “We are delighted with the success of our first Wellbeing Workshop. Our new Champions enthusiastically shared ideas over the two days to support the wellbeing of their colleagues.

“As a group, we will work with all our academies to identify changes that could be made. These changes could include any ideas to improve mental health and wellbeing, for example around the areas of equality, diversity and inclusion, as well as promoting a positive workplace culture.

“Our Champions are looking forward to networking with other champions and organisations in the region, as well as being trained to identify and signpost their colleagues to appropriate local and national health and wellbeing support.

“The next step for our group is to develop and share the Wellbeing Action Plan across TDET. We are very excited about this new initiative, and we look forward to bringing you more news in the near future.”
