TDET and Thomas Deacon Academy have teamed up with Citizens UK to set up the Peterborough
Citizens Alliance, as a result of funding through the Government's Integrated Communities Strategy.
The Peterborough Citizens Alliance is now running a listening campaign to ascertain issues and areas
for improvement within Peterborough. As part of this campaign TDA Sixth Form pupils organised a Peterborough Digital Mental Health Summit.
Twenty adults and sixty pupils from across eight schools in Peterborough, attended the Mental Health Summit to identify barriers young people encounter when getting support for their mental health.
The event was fantastic and facilitated lots of really important discussions around mental health and the services available to young people in Peterborough. The session also included some incredible pupil testimonies and participants heard from several guest speakers, including Paul Bristow MP, Lydia Crawford from The Mix helpline, and Dr Amaia Robles-Fernandez from the NHS Mental Health Support Team.
As a result of the Summit, pupils have managed to secure a meeting with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group and have set up a Peterborough-wide mental health action group.
