Students Learning is enhanced when.....

  • The intended learning is planned for based on the core curriculum.
  • The learning objective relates to specific learning.
  • The learning objective links prior knowledge to what is being taught.
  • The learning objective is specific to the lesson being taught.
  • The learning objective is clearly communicated, visually and verbally.
  • There is clear communication of what you are looking for. (intended outcome).
  • Intended outcomes are shared and revisited at appropriate points in the lesson.
  • Intended outcomes are specific enough so that learning can be evaluated.
  • Possible misconceptions are identified, and planning shows how the teacher will prevent these forming. 
  • Activities are planned to create desirable challenge, getting students to think hard.
  • There is planned common core content, with overlearning or extension opportunities available beyond this.
